Cohort XI Week 1
Cohort XI of the Fellowship in Food Protection got off to a great start with everyone meeting in Kalamazoo, Michigan the last week of September. The Fellows were definitely enthusiastic about being together and it took very little time for them to become good friends and colleagues, supporting each other throughout the week. Together they focused on how to communicate effectively, including a great deal of role-playing as they met with stakeholders, gave presentations and handled challenging questions in the development of an Integrated Food Safety System (IFSS) on the island of Solaris.
A highlight of the week was two separate discussions with Subject Matter Experts and former Fellows Jessica Badour (AFDO) and Laura Wildey (NEHA) who shared their expertise during the Communications and Public Speaking modules.
The Fellows also had the opportunity to present, for the first time, their research that will ultimately be delivered at the AFDO Annual Meeting in 2023.
