MSU Global Food Safety Symposium
Leaders in food safety innovation, research and policy from around the world gathered on the campus of Michigan State University at the end of July for the Global Food Safety Symposium. The four-day symposium hosted more than 60 experts from more than 20 different nations to explore domestic and global food safety and food security practices and explore how to address emerging issues. Joining regulatory officials from the various countries were representatives from USDA (FAS and FSIS), USAID, African Union, IFPTI, IFIC, NSF, MSU, and Neogen.
One of the outputs of the symposium was the creation of an international steering committee to oversee the development of a platform to host training, policies, and other resources to be shared worldwide using a clearinghouse approach.
