IFPTI Announces Partnership with National Center for Biomedical Research and Training at Louisiana State University

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. and BATON ROUGE, La., Feb. 24, 2010 - The International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI) and the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training at Louisiana State University (NCBRT) announced today that they have executed a Memorandum of Understanding covering their collaboration in the development and delivery of food protection training programs. IFPTI and NCBRT are launching their collaboration with the inaugural delivery of NCBRT’s course “A Coordinated Response to Food Emergencies: Practice and Execution.”  The course is being delivered February 24-25 at the McCamly Plaza Hotel in Battle Creek, Michigan to approximately 50 members of state and local emergency response agencies from around the U.S. [View Press Release]

IFPTI & MSU Collaborate to Deliver FDA's "Food Processing & Technology" Course

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. and EAST LANSING, Mich., Feb. 22, 2010 -   The International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI) and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) at Michigan State University announced today that they are collaborating in the delivery of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) course, “Food Processing and Technology.” The four and one-half day course, which is being delivered February 22–25 at CANR, provides an overview of the basic principles in food processing, technology and associated equipment used to ensure the safety of manufactured foods.  [View full release]

IFPTI Accepting Applications to Attend University of Tennessee's Food Vulnerability Assessment Training

News

Course to be Held in Battle Creek, MI on March 22-23, 2010

This course is designed to provide food facility managers and officials at the federal, state, county and local levels with performance and planning-based tools to assess vulnerabilities for all food facilities.  Facilities and operations considered to be "at risk" can reduce or eliminate that risk through appropriate planning and training.  Training will include interactive exercises and case studies to stimulate problem-based learning. 

Travel-related expenses will be reimbursed for regulatory officials selected to participate in this training.  Completed applications must be received by the AFDO Office by Friday, February 26, 2010.  [More Information and Application]

David Acheson Appointed to IFPTI Board of Directors

The International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI) announced today the appointment to its Board of Directors of Dr. David William Kennedy Acheson, Managing Director, Food and Import Safety, Leavitt Partners, a firm founded by former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary and EPA Administrator Michael O. Leavitt to provide strategic input and counsel to clients in matters involving health, the environment and trade. Prior to joining Leavitt Partners, Dr. Acheson served as Associate Commissioner of Foods of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a role in which he provided agency-wide leadership on all food and feed issues, including health promotion and nutrition.
