BATTLE CREEK, Mich., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI) announced that it inaugurated its “Emerging Issues in Food Protection” seminar series by co-sponsoring the presentation of, "The Changing Faces of Environmental Sampling," by Donald L. Zink, Ph.D., Senior Science Advisor for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, to more than 70 food regulators and food emergency responders. Seminar co-sponsors included the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Michigan Department of Agriculture, Michigan Department of Community Health, Association of Food and Drug Officials, and Western Michigan University. The W. K. Kellogg Foundation is funding the start-up activities of the Institute.

Battle Creek, MI, August 1 - An upstart food inspection school in Battle Creek is another step closer to receiving ongoing federal support.
The U.S. House late Thursday passed the Food Safety Enhancement Act of
2009, which included language laying the groundwork for support of the
International Food Protection Training Institute.
The institute opened in March in Battle Creek with the help of a
start-up grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. It has since hosted
one class of about 100 public health inspectors at the McCamly Plaza
Hotel.
