"A Coordinated Response to Food Emergencies: Practice and Execution" Course on February 24-25, 2010
This
is a DHS-certified course developed by the National Center for
Biomedical Research and Training, Academy of Counter-Terrorist
Education at Louisiana State University. The course is being sponsored
by the International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI) and the
Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO).
This is a great opportunity to provide responders with training on
all-hazards food emergency response procedures with an emphasis on
enhancing communication to facilitate the response effort. This
training is available to food regulatory, environmental health,
laboratory and epidemiology program specialists/managers/directors from
around the country.
For applicants selected to participate in this course, travel-related
expenses will be reimbursed according to AFDO’s policies. Applications

Battle Creek, MI (December 9, 2009) --- Gerald (“Jerry”) Wojtala has
agreed to serve as Acting Executive Director of the International Food
Protection Training Institute (IFPTI) effective December 1, 2009. He
will also continue as a member of the Board of Directors for IFPTI.
Mr. Wojtala is currently on a leave of absence from his position as
Deputy Director of the Food & Dairy Division with the Michigan
Department of Agriculture where he has managed the food protection
programs in the State of Michigan and been responsible for liaison with
lawmakers on legislative issues. Mr. Wojtala is also the recent past
President of the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO), an
international, non-profit organization that is a recognized voice in
shaping the regulatory playing field of the future. He is also a
current lead instructor with the National Center for Biomedical
Research and Training, Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education at

The International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI), in
collaboration with AFDO and the FDA is sponsoring FD152 - Food
Processing & Technology Course to be held in East Lansing, Michigan
on February 22-16, 2010. This is a great opportunity to provide the basic principles in food
processing, technology and associated equipment used to ensure the
safety of manufactured foods, and is available to federal, state,
local, territorial and tribal regulators. The skills and knowledge
obtained by investigators through this course will result in an
increased protection of the public health. For applicants selected to participate in this course, travel-related
expenses will be reimbursed according to AFDO's policies. Applications
