Application of the Basics of Inspection and Investigation FD 170

Course Description: The Applications course is the capstone course that reinforces and expands online entry-level courses delivered via FDA’s ORA-U. Topics covered are: overview of laws and regulations, inspection equipment, food sample collection, role of the food laboratory, basic inspection techniques, professionalism and communications, risk-based inspection, investigating foodborne illnesses, and report writing.

Target Audience: This classroom course is appropriate for entry-level regulators involved in both retail and manufactured foods. The course is also a valuable tool for review at the journey-level.

Prerequisites: Prior to participating in the course, students must complete all Level-1 web-based courses available through FDA’s ORA-U. The list of these required courses can be found on the FDA website: http://www.fda.gov/Training/ForStateLocalTribalRegulators/ucm119016.htm

Scheduling a course: Training requests must be submitted by an agency director or training officer. Individual requests will not be accepted. The minimum class size for consideration is 20 participants. Please direct inquiries to support@ifpti.org
